ACF members shortlisted for charity awards

By Ben Eyre, Added: 10 September 2008

The shortlists for Third Sector magazine’s annual ‘Britain’s Most Admired Charities’ awards include three ACF members.

The categories are: most admired charity; most admired chief executive; most innovative charity; and celebrity charity champion. The Baring Foundation has been shortlisted for most admired charity. The foundation funds programmes concerned with strengthening the voluntary sector, and the arts and international development; it had a grant-making budget of £2.7m in 2008.

The Community Foundation for Northern Ireland and The Big Give, an initiative of The Reed Foundation, are both nominated for ‘Most Innovative Charity.’ The Big Give allows wealthy donors to search for charitable projects in their area of interest and make a donation online. The Community Foundation for Northern Ireland has a simple and flexible approach to matching donor intent and need on the ground.

The shortlists are based on nominations from an advisory panel of sector experts. The winners will be announced on 20th October.
