Mission

Community Action Network (CAN) has a passion for social business, and its mission is to help social entrepreneurs grow their organisations and bring about major sustainable social change.

Activities

CAN's central work is to help social businesses scale-up, and we look for creative ways to use funding, skills and experience offered to us. Scaling-up is the biggest barrier facing social businesses and
enterprising charities, and CAN uses its resources to match need with appropriate skills.

Through our Breakthrough programme, CAN leverages in high-quality investment, business skills and experience to support social entrepreneurs. Breakthrough matches the best business skills from the private sector with the passion of social entrepreneurs to create sustainable, efficient organisations that tackle social injustice.

CAN Mezzanines, which are actively managed by a social business, offer high-quality and affordable office space for enterprising organisations.

CAN Online services represents, instigates and reflects the voices of the social enterprise sector. It provides advice, views and critical
information for social entrepreneurs whilst offering key services for
growing a social business.

For individual donors

CAN matches individuals wishing to donate time or money with appropriate social enterprises. Donations of around £40,000 upwards form part of our Breakthrough programme, with CAN charging a negotiable percentage management fee. Lower donations contribute to general funding.
