Mission
To apply private equity to charity, supporting charities that deliver measurable benefits to those they support and where the ‘investment’ by PEF will create significant value.
Activities
PEF has a pro-active approach to grant-making and is working with New Philanthropy Capital (NPC) to identify and evaluate charities to receive its grants. It aims to apply private equity skills to identify, evaluate, select and monitor charities, and will also use its financial and management expertise to support the chosen charities in achieving their aims.
PEF is investing in charities serving children, community support and education, and is focused on the UK and Europe. The amount raised as of June 2007 is some £5.1 million, and five charities have already received funds. NPC will help manage the ongoing relationship with the charities supported by PEF.
For individual donors
PEF currently includes more than 70 private equity firms and advisers including banks, law firms, accountancy firms, consultants and headhunters.
