Jack Petchey and students from the Petchey Academy in Hackney
Jack Petchey CBE, 87, was born and brought up in the East End of London. Through car sales and property development he became one of the most successful businessmen in Britain. Through the Jack Petchey Foundation, formed in 1999, he has given over £65m to youth programmes. The foundation exists to raise the aspiration of young people to help them take advantage of opportunities and play a full part in society.

Trevor Beattie, the advertising maverick who shook the world with his ‘FCUK’ campaign for French Connection and “Hello Boys” for Wonderbra, has launched a foundation that commemorates his inspirational parents Jack and Ada, to “assist the vulnerable and marginalised” of his Midlands birthplace and London where he made his name. Here he shares his inspiration. I set up the Jack And Ada Beattie Foundation in honour and memory of my parents, and the parents of my seven brothers and sisters: Kevin, Pat, Sheila, Dave, Theresa, Paul and Pete.
