Website offers matched funding opportunities
Donors can now set up their own matched fund, or choose from a range of existing matched funding opportunities, through The Big Give website.
Donors who give over £1000 can create a matched fund against any charity registered on The Big Give website. A new ‘Matched Funding’ section of the website allows donors to browse over £50m in matched funding opportunities already available.
This includes Grassroots Grants and matched funding from foundations such as the Mary Kinross Charitable Trust, an Association of Charitable Foundations member, towards a new community centre in Birmingham.
The new section follows on from the success of a matched funding pilot launched by the Reed Foundation, of which the Big Give is an initiative. Launched in December the pilot has raised £2m.
"Matched funding is ideal for donors looking to leverage their giving in a recession", says Jon Brooks, managing director of The Big Give.
