Green Fund to raise up to £5m for sustainable business
Triodos Bank is raising up to £5m through an EIS (Enterprise Investment Scheme) investment fund to invest equity in sustainable green business in the UK.
The Triods EIS Green Fund will target EIS qualifying companies with growth potential in a variety of areas. These will include renewable energy generation and technology, energy efficiency, sustainable living and low carbon products, and waste recycling and reduction.
The Fund Manager has applied to HMRC for the Fund to be approved so that investors will be able to obtain EIS tax relief.
A minimum investment of £5,000 is required and the potential tax reliefs include a reduction in income tax liability by 20p in the £1, up to a maximum investment of £500,000 per annum. Investors would not have to pay capital gains tax (CGT) on the disposal of EIS shares after three years.
Triodos manages over 15 investment funds across Europe with £3 bn of assets under management, including over £1 bn of funds dedicated to renewable energy.
The closing date of the fund is 27 March 2009. For more information , visit the Triodos website.
