Leading grant-maker, the Carnegie UK Trust, a member of the Association of Charitable Foundations, has appointed Martyn Evans as its new chief executive, effective 16th November.

Currently director of Consumer Focus Scotland, the statutory organisation which campaigns for a fair deal for consumers, Evans was previously director of the Scottish Consumer Council. He has also been a visiting professor of law at the University of Strathclyde and is a member of a number of Scottish and UK government advisory groups.

Evans says he is looking forward to being part of the Carnegie UK Trust’s important work: “The Trust is about changing minds and changing lives by seeking to influence policy and practice to make ours a fairer society. This is what I have tried to do throughout my career and I am very pleased to be given this tremendous opportunity. ”

Carnegie UK Trust chair Melanie Leech welcomed Evans saying,  “I am confident he will lead our existing highly talented team effectively to sustain and further enhance the Carnegie UK Trust’s reputation and performance. ”
