Banque de Luxembourg partners with Philanthropy UK to offer clients a guide to giving

Banque de Luxembourg has partnered with Philanthropy UK to produce a Guide to Giving for clients, which provides inspirational, practical and objective guidance to help high-net-worth individuals get started in philanthropy.

Topics include finding a charity to support, giving time, involving family and determining the ‘right’ amount to give.

The guide was prompted by exciting developments in the Luxembourg philanthropy arena as well as an increase in enquiries for philanthropy advice by Banque de Luxembourg clients.

Recent developments include new legislation to improve the tax treatment of philanthropy and the launch of the Fondation de Luxembourg to promote giving and actions for the public good.  Both initiatives were inspired by the success of the ‘Seizing the Opportunity for Philanthropy’ symposium, organised last year by Banque de Luxembourg.

Banque de Luxembourg offers independent wealth management expertise to clients based in Luxembourg and the rest of Europe.

Philippe Depoorter, philanthropy advisor at Banque de Luxembourg, says, “In Luxembourg and throughout Europe more and more people are embarking on a journey in philanthropy and experiencing the satisfaction and rewards of giving. They enjoy seeing the impact of their gift, meeting the beneficiaries as well as other donors.

“This guide will help clients focus their philanthropic aspirations and address some of the issues involved with giving effectively. We believe in building exceptional relationships with clients and this guide will further cement those.”

Susan Mackenzie, Philanthropy UK director and author of the guide, says: “This is a practical guide that offers an excellent springboard for aspiring donors wanting to build programmes of their own.”

The guide is available in English, French and German. To request a copy of the guide, email philanthropie@bdl.lu.
