Sanne Group, one of the largest independent fiduciary services companies in the Channel Islands, has established The Sanne Philanthropic Foundation to promote ‘thoughtful philanthropy’ by providing dedicated resources to donors to assist them in realising their philanthropic aspirations.

Jersey-based Sanne Group has completed the framework for its philanthropic initiatives, with the foundation sitting alongside the existing Sanne Charitable Trust, which provides the vehicle through which Sanne and its customers make charitable donations.
.
Simon Young, Sanne’s managing director, commenting on the newly-established foundation, says: “In our experience, however strong the good intentions, there are barriers to giving. These include lack of time, lack of information and lack of feedback as well as the fear of having to handle hundreds of unsolicited proposals from fundraisers.

“By providing intelligence, process, and if important, confidentiality we believe we can help donors to overcome these barriers and not only give but give with far greater assurance, enjoyment and measurable effect.”

He says Sanne has become “more thoughtful” about its giving, undertaking research that has guided its approach, adding, “A major commitment for us now is to promote philanthropy itself and to practice it in a methodical and informed way.

“Our commitment is in the creation and resourcing of an independent not-for-profit service available to all donors, irrespective of whether they are current or potential Sanne customers. We hope that over time the foundation will act as a catalyst to focus the philanthropic endeavours of major donors and additionally, once costs are covered, will generate funds for the Sanne Charitable Trust and the charities it has selected.”
