President of American Ireland Fund becomes CEO
The president of the American Ireland Fund (AIF), Kieran McLoughlin, is to become its new chief executive.
McLoughlin will be based in New York and manage the fund’s relationship with partner organisations in 10 other countries. He will also look after the fund’s network of donors and events in the States.
The AIF is the largest network of people of Irish ancestry and friends of Ireland dedicated to raising funds to support programmes of peace and reconciliation, arts and culture, education and community development throughout Ireland.
McLoughlin served as the fund’s director (Ireland), between 1996 and 2004. He moved to New York in 2004 to become president of the AIF. During his presidency, the fund held its most successful fundraising event, raising $4m (£2.4m) from a gala dinner.
Loretta Brennan Glucksman, AIF chairman, said, “Kieran has been centrally and critically involved in the growth and development of this organisation for almost 15 years. He understands fully our mission and has shown great energy and imagination in raising resources to support the projects that fulfill that mission.”
Kingsley Aikins, who held the position of chief executive for 17 years, will continue to act as an advisor, based in Ireland. He will help to develop philanthropy in Ireland and develop connections with the Irish community across the world.
