Mission

The Private Equity Foundation’s mission is to:

  • Empower young people to reach their full potential
  • Enable charities to reach their full potential
  • Help the private equity community reach its full potential

Activities

The Private Equity Foundation (PEF) is a leading venture philanthropy fund which applies private equity skills to identify, support and grow charities working with children and young people.

In particular, its investments address the issue of young people not in education, employment or training (NEET) and include not just money but pro bono expertise from the private equity community.

PEF’s utilisation of the business skills of its supporters and members, right up to the most senior level, brings benefits to both charities and donors alike:

It helps build great organizations.  PEF can offer its portfolio charities a quality and breadth of advice on financial management, legal and accounting questions which is unprecedented, helping them achieve a step change in their impact.  Ultimately more children and young people gain

PEF’s high engagement model helps it to protect and leverage donations, maximizing the social return on donors’ investments.  It also gives individuals and companies a unique opportunity to get “hands on” with its charities.  By using their “day job” expertise, they can make a difference to the communities in which they operate

PEF currently has a portfolio of over ten charities, mainly based in the UK.

For individual donors

PEF’s members include more than 70 private equity firms and their advisers including banks, law firms, accountancy firms, consultants and headhunters. Anyone who works within the private equity industry and is interested in finding out more should contact Shaks Ghosh, Chief Executive of PEF, at the address above.
